http bit ly
The URL shortening website http bit ly has surprisingly already overtaken the original URL shortener TINYurl.com and is set to crack the Top 100 websites online according to the Alexa rankings.
Bit ly (In some ways like Google did with search) has simply taken something and made it much better.
TinyURL did a job and was fairly good, however it’s crowded interface and website were not where near as slick as the http bit ly seutp.
BitLY now has plenty of medium to large businesses on board, assisting them with BETA testing and a new API allowed businesses to hook directly into bitly and publish web addresses with a smaller, much simpler shortened URL for the public.
