Which Social Bookmarking Site for SEO?
If you are currently using a range of social bookmarking sites and services to boost SEO (search engine optimization) for your website? Which particular site do you use, do you use a specific site purely for more powerful SEO juice or for the fact its faster or simpler to submit your websites new posts or pages?
There is no question in our mind that digg.com offers the most powerful link juice and backlinking power from an SEO perspective.
There are however, a few little drawbacks and frustrating quirks to using digg soley and consistently.
Firstly, digg naturally wants to keep spam and annoying worthless posts to a minimum. Like any good directory service, they want quality articles and content. Now, black hatters and spammers might sneak through a few pages into the digg index – but for the most part digg is pretty good at weeding out the germs.
If you are submitting decent content, at times digg can frown upon ‘too many submissions from a single digg account’.
Don’t forget digg is aimed at ‘interesting stories’ that are expected to be liked and bumped or voted up the list of the digg front page. It was never intended to be purely a bookmarking or seo style website of course.
So for someone (regardless of the content they are submitting) to keep firing submissions revolving around a single website and it’s inner pages – digg and the nazi’s that moderate the site will quickly weed you out and you’ll suffer some pain.
That said, if used in moderation for good content from your site – the SEO advantages are great. You’ll be spidered in most cases within minutes and generally depending on your niche, the digg page you submitted ranks well in search engines.
Following on from digg, we also find www.mister-wong.com has a good blend of easy to use interface and search engine spidering advantages.
After mister-wong, look to the likes of folkd, technorati, fark.com and reddit.com
A good service like socialmarker.com helps submit from the one location – however there are occasional bugs, lockups and account management issues. (Managing too many social bookmarking accounts is a nightmare) At times social marker can crash or lose out when it comes time to use the various bookmarking catchphas. But hang in there – for a free service, social marker is quite good.
For more serious or power-SEO users – check out book marking demon which does a good job of adding and managing weblinks.
One of the more recent trends in simple more effective bookmarking is – human edited, outsourced bookmarking. We’re trialing this with traffic bug, a seemingly handy service where they add your main website and on-going inner pages to a range of hundreds of social bookmarking sites and free web directories.
Check traffic bug out by clicking here.
So far we’ve been impressed with the results, the company does charge $19 US a month for on-going usage – but with monthly or weekly reports and a range of email updates, you know exactly whats going on with your sites and you’ll save hours not having to bookmark every single page!
Finally, below we have dumped a range of our most recent keywords from our bookmarking locations:
