UMGE Group pushing Evony

The UMGE Group (Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment) is apparently a publicaly listed game development company out of China. Specialising in MMORPG and general RTS and MMOG on the internet.

Their latest offering is called Evony, previously called Civony while in beta development stage – it’s no wonder UMGE are chasing the MMOG market big time, it makes up over $7 billion USD of market capitalization. Particularly in China, where online gaming is massive, they have the know-how and huge base from which to launch something like Evony and really send it to the top of the gaming ranks on the internet, right round the world.

Many question the opportunity, as Evony is a free game (based in a web browser) that is apparently ‘free forver’ – so how will UMGE make any money? Well, just check out the strong advertising push they have been doing online, and you’ll understand that there must be something in it for them.

Their optional ‘pay for play’ in Evony allows users to optionally tip in some money to get a faster and potentially more enjoyable game experience. Certainly for the older players and those that join the game late, they can quickly and easily buy some Evony game coins to speed up their development and catch players playing the free version, where building and acquring can take that little bit longer.

UMGE boasts some of the worlds best developers, they know what software works and what games the fans want.

Specialising in Multi-Player browser games, the shift from box selling mainstream PC games is very interesting. The free browser based games have the option to generate huge monies, there is no need for software houses to sell boxes, middle men taking a cut or ruthless software pirates ruining everything. The MMOG is the perfect market if done right.

The latest MMORPG to roll off the UMGE production line, Evony – throws the playing into medieval Europe, where they must build a city, castle and grow their empire against real enemies. The multiplayer browser format has been significantly improved, with clean crisp graphics, exciting gameplay and overall an addicitve feel.

Evony users build their own cities train large armies of troops, learn and research technologies, construct fortification systems and much more. Players climb up the nobility ladder by storming the continent. There are eight human forces: Worker, Warrior, Scout, Pikeman, Swordsman, Cavalry and Cataphract; and four machinery forces: Transporter, Ballista, Battering Ram and Catapult. Besides, the technologies family adds additional tweaks to the gameplay

There are eight human forces: Worker, Warrior, Scout, Pikeman, Swordsman, Cavalry and Cataphract; and four machinery forces: Transporter, Ballista, Battering Ram and Catapult. Besides, the technologies family adds additional tweaks to the gameplay. They are all critical to winning. More than five thousand words of well-researched history of the fortifications and the progress of technology put the gameplay into context.
