Evony has quickly become the most popular free online web strategy game for serious MMORPG fans. Based slightly on the larger World of Warcraft type design, Evony is beautifully designed and runs free to anyone with a web browser. The release and success of Evony Free Forever – has probably changed MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) gaming for good.
Now in March 2010, Evony Online Accounts are believed to be at over 20,000 million users and it’s growing at unrivaled speed. Carving a new MMORTS niche, the developers have now released iEvony with much talk about the sequel EVONY AGE 2 also. Both will offer more cutting edge features to gamers willing to test new realms in Evony.
Evony went public (after beta testing as Civony) in May 2009 runs in most modern browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome. And you need Adobe Flash Player 9 or above version – this is an online web game that simply rocks!
Players who got in early do have a strong advantage over newer Evony players, as existing realms with strong alliances have a very solid base of resources, armies and towns to rely on.

The game is approaching 12 months of age officials, Evony has a massive following already and the online web game is spreading fast through the internet gaming community. It’s initial name ‘civony’ is believed to have been changed after pressure from outsiders, claiming the name was a play on ‘Civ’ or ‘Civilization’ by Sid Meier. But it goes further than the Civilization game, think of it more as a cross between World of Warcraft, Rome: Total War AND Civilization.
The developers claimed Civony was a ‘beta’ release, quickly releasing the free online web game as ‘Evony’ with the same design and morphing the original database of players and their items, status etc. Build castles, defend your turf and join an alliance to fight battles with your friends, side by side.
There is an element for the developers or owners of Evony to make money from their new online web game, they allow users to purchase coins in the game using real money, which essentially speeds up building and growing a player or ‘base’ in the game.
Unlike other competing web (and real PC) games, Evony is essentially a ‘town’ or ‘base’ you continue to grow and you use your growth, items, skills to attack and invade other ‘real’ players. Much like the game of Civilization but on a much larger scale and in ‘medieval’ times.
The quick uptake of the online web game Evony, is because of smooth enjoyable visuals and seemingly good design have it set to continue to go nuts in the gaming community, I expect this game to be a massively followed one and it will be something that really rockets up the charts.

The only concerning angle, just like any game, the cheat factor is creeping in. While no mainstream Evony cheats have been spotted as yet, there are already countless Evony cheat discussions appearing online. This is something that any serious MMORPG or RTS gamer need to be aware of because they simply destroy the fabric of any online game.
(The only concern, is with the popularity of this new web game, the lag and server delay is continuing to grow. The developing company needs to keep pouring money back into the game initially otherwise it may frustrate serious gamers)
** Makers of Evony, UMGE (United Multiplayer Gaming Entertainment) have recently added more sever capacity.
As of October 2009, there are 89 evony servers online. Ensuring users get good speed and game play. (So there should be no one complaining about evony lag or evony running slow!)
(Oh and by the way, if you though World of Warcraft was addictive, just wait till you try this free browser game – it will have you stuck at the browser for hours on end. Its a quality MMORPG that will appeal to all gamers!)
