Achieving a high cricket score is no easy task. For a batsmen, a lot can depend on the pitch or wicket itself; as opposed to the ability of the bowler or settings of the field.

In the first instance, to achieve a good ‘cricket score’ you must ensure your mindset is at it’s peak. Concentration, focus and fitness are all key. Upon arriving at the crease, you’ll need to inspect the pitch closely, looking for cracks, divots, soft or hard patches and more importantly look for where the surface might be ‘broken’.

Most cricketers fear the first few overs, as a batsman, getting through these initial few balls by the bowler will go along way to getting that impressive high cricket score.

Spin bowlers will be looking to work on any rough patch to spin the ball sharply, guys like Shane Warne or Anil Kumble will work you over in a certain area of the pitch.

Some batsmen go about achieving a high score in a different way, just look at guys like MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar or Sorav Ganguly. These guys will play attacking cricket and quickly achieve their high score through power hitting to the boundary or over the fence for 6.

Faster bowlers might try and hurt you with a bouncer on a hard pitch, but if you can get bat on ball as a batsmen, the 6 stitcher cricket ball can quickly fly off the bat at high speed to the boundary and over the fielders heads. This will get the score board ticking over quickly and you’ll have a high cricket score in no time.

The final ingredient to getting a high cricket score, is fortunate umpire decisions. The danger of LBW leg before wicket, being caught of a slight edge or even run-out – all come down to the umpires decision.

However, the third umpire or video umpire has helped save many batsmen and see a cricket score improve for most batsmen. Safely getting home after checking replays.

On the other hand, fielding teams can now ‘appeal’ to video umpire for slight edges or other decisions. Technology such as ‘hotspot’ can see where the cricket ball hit and actually might defeat batsmen quicker, many believe this could reduce the high cricket score more quickly.

One way to quickly achieve your best cricket score is to follow the footsteps of Indian Batsmen Yuvraj Singh in a 20/20 match he hit 6 sixes over Stuart Broad – bringing 36 runs quickly off just 6 balls. Now thats how to do it!
